Conkey – Oh how I wanted to be there on the Mall in Washington D.C. on August 28 and feel that spirit of freedom in person, and to be one of the 500,000 plus freedom loving Americans who answered Glenn Beck’s call to “Restore Honor” to America. But while I couldn’t be there in person I was there in spirit along with the many from Cherokee County who did attend, either to help Beck or to simply be there on that historic occasion.
Even while watching on C-Span one could feel that powerful spirit of freedom emanating from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial as Beck’s rally rolled forth out across America for over three hours. Even if one doesn’t believe in miracles it would be difficult not to believe that the Spirit of God put His stamp of approval on this event as a large flock of geese, in perfect ‘V’ formation flew over the Washington Monument and down over the Reflecting Pool directly towards the Lincoln Memorial at 9:59 a.m., just one minute before the curtain was about to rise on what Beck would later call America’s third great awaking. I listened carefully to the messages emanating from this rally. The rally’s theme was taken, not from the Bible as the elitist media suggests, but from Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence, the last line, that reads “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”
How much more American can you get? You can’t! Yet the media ignores this foundational theme and continues to ratchet up their efforts to destroy Beck by portraying him as another Elmer Gentry, or a charlatan attempting to use God to whip up the growing opposition to the Obama administration’s efforts to destroy the Constitution and set up a socialistic form of government, with themselves, ‘the elite’ ruling.
The elitist media, if they are to be successful to ‘fundamentally change’ America has to destroy the role of religion in America, and with well over 80 percent of Americans believing in God and in His Bible, the book that contains God’s ‘perfect laws of liberty,’ they have to destroy Beck as he is invoking God’s message to first look inward and change self before attempting to change others. If Beck’s third great awaking materializes, as I believe it will, it will reawaken America and help it realize that its freedoms and liberties are dependent upon God who inspired the Founders to sign the Declaration of Independence, at the peril of their lives, and Constitution, written to protect the freedoms Jefferson listed in the declaration.
When Americans more fully comprehend, with Beck as their history professor, they will soon realize that the progressive’s declaration that there must be ‘a separation of church and state’ is a lie, they will begin to realize that their freedom is in their own hands and that they, the individual, has it within his own power to “Restore Honor” to America by restoring the principles of freedom handed down to them by the Founding Fathers. And when average Americans reach this point the progressive movement will be derailed and shown for what it is – a counterfeit.
The difference between the words spoken by Beck and Obama is that I feel Beck’s word’s can be trusted – I feel truth emanating from his words. Unfortunately I don’t feel the same assurance when Obama speaks. And that is a shame.
In my opinion Beck’s movement is being built upon the foundation established by Dr. Martin Luther King, non-violence and love for one’s fellow man, regardless of one’s color, culture, or religious beliefs. Beck accomplished this by making Dr. Alveda King. Dr. King’s niece, a major focus of his August 28 “Restoring Honor” rally. She helped all Americans who listened to realize that Dr. King’s dream has been shared by millions, including Alveda who enunciated her dream beautifully. Only a media bent of destroying what America stands for could see any guile in her speech. In addition to the beautiful musical presentations and the spoken words by many, a telling moment about our country was when it was announced that after total rejection by the military to lead the pledge of allegiance Beck turned to the Boy Scouts of America to lead the pledge. That only reaffirmed that the Spirit of Freedom was ringing out at Beck’s third great awakening on August 28, 2010.
